bulkhead F

Post by Rick DeCiero » Fri Feb 17, 2012 8:48 pm

Hello everyone,
Does anyone know if the bulkhead F ( the rear door bulkhead ) needs a
doubler at the top where you must drill a 3/4" hole for the fuel line to
pass through on its way to the rear. This hole comes close to the "u"
shaped cutout in the bulkhead and visually appears to substantially
weaken the bulkhead. I have added the float fix doubler on the outside
of the fuse in this area and this seems to provide additional strenght
in this area. This hole also clips bulkhead "G" but only cuts in about
1/4". The doubler would fit inside of the bulkhead "F"(channel) from the
rear and would be approx 1 3/4" wide x about 5" long to be fit inside of
the bulkhead and bridge over the "u" cutout. I'll probably fit another
piece of channel inside of the bulkhead in this area.
Bulkheads "F" and "G" support the rear wing attach bracket and this is
the reason for my concern.
Thanks all in advance,
Rick D.

bulkhead F

Rick, FWIW I build them all putting the same "angle doubler" over the cut
outs on the sides of "f" that MAM shows you to put just on the tops of f &
g. This seems to be the first place to crack when you stick a wing in the
ground, that hopefully you will never do, but I would definetly add that
piece of angle over the cut out while you can! Also, why are you cutting a
3/4" hole to run a 3/8" fuel line? With the right grommet the max you need
is 1/2".

Regards,

bulkhead F

Post by David L. Tuck » Sun Feb 19, 2012 11:00 am

Can anyone help with what seems to be confusion to me?
Is the height of bulkhead F, to be the same as the skin of fus 24 ? or does
it stick up just a little above that skin? No matter what I do here it just
doesn't look quite right.
Thank you
Dave T./ rebel 009
