G'day Everyone !
Finally took 541R to our hangar last week.........and stuck it together....YAY ! :-)
BUT.........it'll probably still be several months until it's ready to fly...(got LOTS of "little fiddley
things" left to do .
I scanned a pic' of it on the weighing scales in 75 DPI so I hope it appears on this e-mail
as an attachment you can have a quick sticky at.
She came out at 963 lbs ,..which I'm quite happy about as:
1) We replaced all the undercarriage legs with chrome moly
2) We have used two big compression coil springs instead of bungee
3) We have aluminium fairings on the gear legs and aerodynamic wood ones on ALL struts etc
4) It's got THREE wheel pants
5) Carpet throughout
6) Pretty good panel (2 Icom radios, Skyforce GPS, Transponder, full "six pack" and more)
7) Dorsal fin (our own design
An 0-235 full of oil, with a Warp Drive prop, oil cooler and a variable ratio cowl flap
9) Crossover exhaust (homemade from .048" stainless steel...(normal SS is .035")
All in all , a pleasing result......SO FAR....(fingers crossed)
