Hello!

So I have bent the top flange of the fuselage root rib back to where it is
90
degrees to the webbing. And as mentioned, the webbing is now warped. I
understand that I am to bend the flange somehow so that the webbing is flat.
I've bent it in a few places to try to do this.

Before bending, the webbing had about a 2-3" bulge in it as opposed to
perfectly flat. Now there is a 1-2" bulge. If this isn't good enough I'll
see
about getting a pair of crimping pliers.

What exactly are crimping pliers and is there any predictable way to bend
the
flange to get the web straight? Or just trial and error?

Thanks for the suggestion Duane!

Since I posted the original message, I went to the hardware store and got a
crimping tool. One of the guys there said what I really needed was a hand
seamer, but they didn't have one. I'll look into the shrinker/stretcher
tool.
Could you send me a pic of one?

I crimped all along the top of the rib flange. It crimped it down about 1/8"
every 3/8" or so. This helped but there is still quite a bit of warp. I
think
it needs deeper crimping and this tool can't do it.

The assistant in the attached jpg's is my ten year old, Menassi.

Crimping looks good, just one bit of advice - if possible lay out the
rivet holes before you crimp if possible so you can crimp in between and
have a regular rivet spacing.

page you should see a shrinker/stretcher tool. For fluting pliers I braised
a
couple of pieces of steel rod to one jaw of an old pair of vice grips and a
single piece to the other jaw. The size of the steel rod and how hard you
press
