Exhaust installion

Bob P. and others with a 912, I'm preparing to install a single exhaust which I purchased from someone you recommended Bob and there are many modifications required to custom fit this system. As I understand it, this muffler goes at the far rear lower part of the engine and no "ball joints are required, probably just pipe fitting into another oversize pipe, as opposed to my existing side by side exhaust which used ball joints and springs.

Does anyone have any detailed pics of their installation so I can get a good look at your installation. I find the space rather tight and even aniticipate having to move the gascolators location to allow sufficient space for the muffler. Any tips on the installation would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Aurele

Hi Aurele !

Sorry I can't help - haven't seen one of these on a Rebel.
Is this the stainless steel system made by that race-car outfit in
Mississauga ?? I know several of them have been used on Zenair
Zodiacs. Apparently, they gain a few horsepower !

I'm surprised they don't use ANY ball joints ... I know
space IS tight, because of the large tank of the 4 into 1 muffler.
You might want to use springs to attach the muffler to the frame,
to allow for movement on the engine mounts ...
I guess if you have to move the gascolator to one side, it won't
hurt anything. You might have to insert a sheet of metal to direct
airflow down from above, and to shield the gascolator and other
parts from the heat of the muffler.

Sure would like to see photos of other installations, if
there are any ! And please post yours, when you get it flying !!
