Subject: [rebel-builders] Fw: Rebel question

Hi,

I have nearly completed my build of a Murphy Rebel, but have run into a
problem:

I have the split flap / aileron modification. When I measure the aileron
movement I can not get the required 15 degree's down and 20 degree's up.
Whatever I do I get the same amount up as down (15 & 15 or 20 & 20).

Has anyone any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong, or how I can remedy
this problem.

Regards
Peter

[rebel-builders] Fw: Rebel question

Hi Peter !

First thing to check would be the bellcrank on the side of the
fuse - the horns are different lengths, and some have inverted
them ... The ailerons should come down with the flaps too ..
if they are interconnected.

Be sure the flaps do not come down more than the specified
18 degrees .....

You will likely want to switch to flapperons anyway - as you are,
you will have half the aileron and half the flap effectiveness, and
more weight.... Also - no reflex flapperon, which will increase
speed & stability...
Several have found crosswinds more challenging...

Probably not a problem. My Rebel with flaperons gets about the same up
as down but it flies just fine. It is a rudder airplane.

And my congratulations to Nigel as well.
