One issue that repeatedly shows up is hole elongation/wear in FUS-360 where
the tailwheel stinger bolts to the forward tail bulkhead. This issue was
noted by the factory some time ago as the factory doubled the wall thickness
of FUS-360 as part of their Moose tail service bulletin (available on the
Murphy website). Yet, even with doubled thickness, FUS-360 will wear over
time. The FUS-360, even doubled in thickness, is just not strong enough
compared to the force imposed by the AN-5 bolt as leveraged by the long
moment-arm of the stinger.

I posted two pictures (in Area 124 - S/M-Modifications) of a modification I
made to the stinger attachment at FUS-360. I simply added two 0.125" 4130
plates on either side of FUS-360 each with three holes. Much easier to
understand if you look at the pictures. What I'm attempting to accomplish
is to 1) add 4130 support on either side of the main AN-5 bolt stinger
attach point and 2) spread the stinger load to two additional points.
Furthermore, I added 4130 bushings between the FUS-360 holes that bracket
the stinger attach point to make FUS-360 into sort of an I-Beam; These two
additional bolts/bushings further distribute the load imposed by the primary
stinger attach bolt. Again, easier to see what I've done and understand the
potential benefit by looking at the pictures.

If anyone would like me to send the pictures directly to them please send me
an email at tedwaltman@gmail.com and I will do so.
