Here's a little trick that works great, even if the sharpie marks have been there for a while. Go buy a "dry erase" marker and rub over the sharpie markings until they start to blur, then wipe everything away with a dry cloth.

Recently someone asked about how to remove Permanent Marker "Sharpie".
Whistle Lacquer thinner, M.E.K., Acetone and a few other paint solvents do
work pretty well, they also can lift paint.

I have been using "Dykem remover & Thinner #138" for many years with good
results. That is too say it removes more of the marker from a painted
surface than the other solvents, with much less damage to the paint. It
contains Ethyl Alcohol and N-Butyl Acetate.

Made by the Dykem Company, St Louis, MO. Should be available at Machine
shop supply companies. I see it listed in a catalog at 1-800-use-enco.com
or E at use-enco.com Hope it works for some of you with that cleaning
problem.
