[rebel-builders] clear fuel line - sight guage
Posted: Sun Feb 19, 2012 11:35 pm
Thanks Wayne !
Great pic ... I would just like to add my strong suggestion
to add a reducer (to stop sloshing up & down in the guage), AND,
most important - at the bottom, a small valve !! The old
Renegade valves are great - small, with a red handle...
The reasons for the valve -- some people are worried about
the possibility of fuel in the cockpit, and - everybody will have to
replace the sight guage tubing at some time .... Just turn the
valve, and --- no worries, mate ! :-) Sure beats having
to drain the tank - or getting a gas shower !!
Another great idea is a printed sheet behind the tube, with
lines, to make fuel more visible ... and/or maybe a fuel-proof
float (cork ??) inside the tube ... The sheet can have markings
in front for content in level flight, at back for tail down ....

[quote]Just don't tee the sight gauge line into the fuel outlet fitting !!! You
need a seperate fitting strictly for the site gauge or you'll induce air
into the fuel feed.
Here's a picture of what I'm talking about, taken yesterday on the wings
I'm redoing the fuel tanks on.

[quote]HI Wayne: I absolutely agree with you in the diagonal positioning of the
fuel sight gauge. That's exactly how I'm building my new wing and be able
to
see when the fuel is low. Most important observation, thanks very much,
regards,
Eduardo
