[rebel-builders] Bear Recipes

Gee Whiz,

I sent Angus an email asking about price and availability on his
cambered leading edge.
Now, about 8 emails later, I still don't have a price, or availablity,
or performance specifications--and it looks like instead of me getting
the info I am looking for, we are getting ready to exchange recipes for
cooking bear.

I thought this website was about building airplanes?

The bear came after me on a rock ridge, my fault, stumbled upon 2-100lb cubs + mom and instantly reversed but I couldn't run over the fireburned deadfall so had to decide weather to shoot an arrow at the upset advancing bruin (at 25yds) or be laying on my back being mauled wishing I'd shot the arrow. Bear is in the cooler
Had a good bull (42"ish) at 15yds this morning but decided he wasn't big enough for the effort of getting him out of the bush alone, got him on video anyway.
The Rebel ended up being loaded and beyond so no room for a boat too.
Have a picture of the plane load of gear so will post it when I get home. Living in a tent on Otter Lk., St.Ignace Island for another week......Angus

You are closer though, you know where he is and when he will be home and
that he still exists and we had a lot of laughs in the meantime. Airplanes
are good too.

Dang Karl, give Angus some slack. He is entitled to having some fun. I believe he makes the leading edge kit as a side job, more of a way to help out fellow Rebel builders. I have spoken to Angus and he is a stand up guy. I'm sure he will respond when he has time.
I think a little break from all the airplane questions is totally acceptible on this group. Besides, lots of these guys have become friends from corresponding through this builders group.
Just my $0.02

Karl,

You are entirely right. Bear recipes have no place on this builders list.

I just thought Angus could get back to you faster about price and availability if he doesn't get trichinosois from eating undercooked bear.

Sorry to waste bandwidth.

[rebel-builders] Bear Recipes

actually I am in complete "accord" with all that transpired.

I just thought it would be fun to point out that in 6 or 8 short emails
we went from modifying the leading edge of a Murphy Rebel---to
exchanging bear meat recipes.
I ate a lot of bear many years ago. In N Minnesota, when I was a young
lad--bear were varmints--no license needed. --If they were needed I
didnt know about it. We shot em year round

Trim ALL the fat off. I think the meat is much better when you cook it
with hog fat.
