[rebel-builders] clear fuel line

Post by Bob Patterson » Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:55 pm

Hi Jason !

The blue stuff IS translucent, and will work ... but it eventually
discolours too ... Should be good for a year or 2 though...

You haven't been running car gas have you ??? That's a no-no
for at least a few hundred hours ... and bad gas can discolour
tubing within a few DAYS !!!

I've tried Tygon, and several others - Canadian Tire stuff for
windshield wipers worked !! Just the luck of the draw - keep trying !!

THAT'S why I recommend installing a small shut-off valve at the
bottom of the sight guages - makes it a LOT easier to change
the tubing .... no need to run a tank dry !! ;-)

Glad to hear you are progressing so well - keep going ....
it's a looonnnnngggg winter !! ;-( Your insurance will drop
a whole bunch once you pass 100 hours solo !!! :-)

Maybe you need a trip to Sun 'n Fun in March !!! ;-)

I thought the polyurethane tube from aircraft spruce part no. 0585-071 would work.
That was what I was planning to use, correct me if I am wrong. I have not installed it yet.

Clear teflon tubing is still clear in year 6 with mogas. I believe I put
details in the archives. Inserts are needed if using brass compression
fittings with it although nylon fittings also work.

Congratulations on the float rating. That was pretty quick.

My experience with it is you will find stuff that works for 100LL and you'll
find stuff that works for auto fuel. You will not find anything that works
for both.

The stuff I'm using now is from the local Huskquvarna chainsaw dealer. It's held up very well for at least a couple years.
