[rebel-builders] Help needed with bungees

Post by Bob Patterson » Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:55 pm

Hi Alan !

What bungees do you have ?? The bulk material ?

Most now use the #9044 rings, pre-made. They are easy to install,
and work well .... Usually, with a 320, you'll need 3 on front & 3 on
back, on each side, for a total of 12. You can try just 2 front & back,
but most likely you'll need the extra one - it just sits on top of the
other 2, in the groove.

You can install the rings by hooking the top over the top bolt,
and using a nylon ratchet tie-down strap hooked to the bottom
of the gear leg, to pull the ring down, and a large screwdriver to
pop it over the bottom bolt...

Hopefully, you drilled the bungee bolts parallel, as has long been
recommended ... otherwise it's a bit more tricky...

It's also a good idea to make up drilled Delrin spindles (think
these might be available from Spruce, like the 9044 rings ...) to
go over the bolts. These effectively make the bolt thicker, and
make it easier for the bungee to slide around when stretching.
