[rebel-builders] doubler for forward skylights - eyebrows
Posted: Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:55 pm
Per prior discussions on this issue, I used .040.
Although I used lighter gauge at first, with same results you observe, I
think the best procedure for those who haven't started this already would be
to roll some .040 for a doubler, drill rivet pattern in the doubler, place
doubler on fuse to match drill the rivet line holes, then cut out the
eyebrow hole in the doubler, match to fuse, and finally cut the eyebrow hole
in the fuse. Seems to me that would be the best way to end up with the least
distortion when finally assembled.

I have cut out my forward skylights (eyebrows) and have made doublers out
of
.025. The skylight holes still seem a bit distorted (not laying flat) with
the doublers on. What have others used.... 032, .040?
