I respectfully disagree about the gear. All you have to do is check that the
fuse is still level at appropriate times, not take the whole gear off. With
the wings supported at or near proper dihedral, my fuse level didn't change
while putting the struts ON-OFF-ON numerous times, through two full (2x2)
strut builds (1st attempt failed for other reasons) -- while on the gear,
tail up. When the first wing was done, it was still supported at the fuse
level position, so connecting and disconnecting the strut for fitting the
second wing didn't move the fuse level position either.

FWIW, pictures of the collapsible scaffolds I made are at

the pages +/- from there.) Probably looks like overkill, but once the wings
were placed up on the scaffolds, they made sliding the wings ON-OFF-ON the
fuse a one person job -- really handy when building the cross-cabin torque
tubes, among all the other times. My better half can easily help me put the
wings onto the scaffolds, but wouldn't be able to hold them up for the
several minutes it takes me to bolt them on with spacer washers, bolt the
struts on, etc. The scaffolds were easily knocked down (just unscrew the
triangle gussets) to move across the country. They've been knocked down in
storage for a few years now, with pieces stacked in the back of a shed, but
I'll probably screw one of them together again soon to aid wing disassembly
for the upcoming paint job.

gear and put the fuselage back on the table. level the table , then the
fuselage. I would then put the previous struts back on and remove the bolts
from one end. then set the wings at exactly 1 degree. Mark your fittings
through the previously drilled bolt holes and see what you have. It may be
possible to save the struts and two of the end fittings.
