Conduits for wiring

I'm thinking about putting lights in the wingtips and top of the fin. I've been
contemplating putting a 1/2" tube infront of the tip spar and the leading
edge. What else has been done to allow for the wires? Thanks, Paul SR074

Paul,
Some have used PVC water pipe. Wayne rejects that vehmently because of combustion products should there be a fire. I always try to consider future maintenance and would use conduit / tubing of some sort for future ease of wire replacement. Consider access and be sure to tie the conduits down with Adel clamps. Same goes for supporting the free wire at least every 12 inches. Grommets where necessary. All relative motion between parts must be stopped or one will eventually cut the other. Leave a nylon pull string in place as well for possible future wire pulls.

A light nylon pull line is easily pulled through conduit with a shop vac. I had good success with an undersized ball of masking tape on the pull line. The straighter the run the better. Use your hand to adjust the vacuum at the exit end and be aware that ball is quicker than a kitchen cockroach when it exits.
