Covering Flapperon

Post by Charlie Eubanks » Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:54 pm

I have started covering the flapperon and am presently attaching the flannel
batten material to the leading edge. Could some body please define the term
"sufficient adhesive to secure the batten"? I would assume the batten
material should be able to move freely as the fabric is being heat shrunk so
it does not bunch up under the fabric?

Covering Flapperon

Charlie: I don't understand your post? Are you planing to install
felt over the leading edge of the flaperons, then cover them with
fabric? If that is your plan, then I would suggest not using the
felt because the extra thickness will cause the flaperon to rub
on the upper part of the wing. Generally felt is used on the wing
leading edge of older aircraft to help smooth out the dents, and
screw and rivet heads.
