Weight and Balance-Engine Start!

Post by craig walls » Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:54 pm

On Sunday last we had the rebel weighed. Through the whole thing I've been hoping for 1050 lbs knowing I had the large tires, heavier motor and had done substantial beefing. It came out 1050 exactly! What are the odds?
I must have willed it to weigh that much as I was building! So, 29" ABW's, 0360, 8 lb tail wheel and all the normal mods plus a few of my own. CG is more forward than I'd have liked at 9.3. That's to be expected with the battery up there as well.

Also today we started the engine for the first time. Once it was primed it started right up and later I took it taxiing (?) down the strip and back to break the brakes in. It's very exciting stuff to see it move and to make it move! First flight in August! Craig
