Seeking hints

Hello Rebel Builders:
I am starting to put together a game plan for OSH11, (I know, but I am
always a day late and... well you know the rest) and I was wondering if any
of you have seen or heard of anything new or special that I should be
looking for at this years show.
One of the things that the guys from home here want me to research is an
application for an IPad that not only shows the sectional charts/enroute
charts, but also has real time weather. Right now you can get real time
weather from Garmin on some of their products, but I think it runs about
$600 a year. Which is not bad if you have the money, and the need. But what
is out there new and or cheaper?
Also interested in all forms of lightweight instruments and electronic
engine displays. The key word here is light weight, and cheap would help.
(Maybe simple is a better word)
I also would like to get some fresh insight into engine selection. I wrote
Lycoming, and they SAY that the IO-233 will ship next month, and cost
(Please sit down) $23,000. Anybody know the current cost of a new Rotax?
Also does anyone recommend a particular overhaul shop for a Lyc O-235? I
like the O-235, but it is a little heavy. I want to find out the weight of
the 233, but it may not matter given the price. (And also that it is a new,
low field time, unproven engine. Never mind that it is based on the O-235).
What about props? Sensenich has their new ground-adjustable prop, but my
friend Charlie Eubanks has been waiting 13 weeks against a promised delivery
of 4 weeks. He is supposed to get it this week, so he should have a fresh
report as to how it looks.
So there are some general subjects. If anyone has some info or more fuel for
the fire, I would be happy to hear about it.
