Mike

Great Idea! I have seen a few personal sites like this but none all in
one place It would be a good cue to get some conversation going about
the various assembly steps (there are other steps than wet wing sealing
aren't there?) ;u)

Your idea about completions and flying Rebels (and variants, the Elite
builder said...) is great also, we could get some feedback on the early
flying hours and all those little things that creep up.

Keep up the good work, it is appreciated!

I just had a thought... (don't get scared now!) If everyone is
interested, I
would like to add to this mailing list with a web site devoted to
Rebel
projects.=A0 If you've got pictures of your Rebel, building or finished=
,
and a
few words to say about it that you would be willing to send me, I'll
start a
web page to publish this information too.=A0 I'll throw something
together
later today to get it started, I'll put the site up at:
=20
http://www.dcsol.com/murphy.rebel

I'd like to start with a completions page like Kit Planes has in every
magazine so those that have made it all the way to a flying machine
can
publish a picture to inspire all the rest of us that haven't=A0 gotten
that
far yet.

If you have any comments or suggestions, please let'um fly, I don't
have
lots of time, but I think I can still put together a pretty good site
to
keep the dream waters boiling.

I've received several messages today like the one below about my suggested
new web site. I'll use this one to answer some of these questions.

-----Original Message-----
Great Idea count me in, I set up a site of my own with a graphic, I
had some pics scanned but can't seem to get around to putting up some
photos. I assume we send the photo's to you at:

mike.davis@dcsol.com ?
This is correct, send any pictures you have to this address
If you don't have anything in computer format, you are welcome to send print
photos to:

Davis Computer Systems
9A Doolittle Drive, Suite 112
Waldorf, MD 20602

If you want print photos returned, please send a self-addressed stamped
envelope for them to be returned in.
What format do you want - bmp, gif, tif, jpg?, what resolution do you
want? is there a maximum file size? Details, details, details!
Any of the above formats will do, gif and jpg are the only formats that can
be used on the web site, but others can be easily converted. Size is a
consideration... for images to load reasonably well on a web site, they
should be smaller than 50KB each, and any 1 web page should not exceed
100KB. I have found that you can still get reasonably good resolution with
a file size of 8-12KB. If you have larger files, feel free to send them
anyway, I can attempt to alter the size of the file by playing with the
resolution. If I can get the file down to a manageable size with it still
looking reasonably good I will do so. Many scanners will scan a photo into
a file format that may be 500KB - 1MB, I have found that by converting these
files to jpg format, then opening and re-saving the file in a graphics
program like Lview Pro (shareware, available free at www.shareware.com
search for "lview") that a file that starts out at 1MB can often be brought
down to under 20KB without any noticeable difference in resolution.

I hope this has answered these questions without making to many new ones!
:-)

I look forward to hearing from more of you.
