Roland,
I cut my sticks so they go under the panel.

As my control sticks were hitting the panel before reaching the stop mounted
on the floor, I assumed that the sticks must have been modified with later
kits. Since I have seen a couple of Rebels on the net with sticks which have
a more pronounced bend rearward, I wrongly made the assumption that if I
ordered new ones from Darryl, I would get the revised ones. So the ones I
finally received were the same as the ones I had been given with kit #56.
Rule of thumb, ask twice, spend once. Obviously I didn't ask where these
"uber-bent" sticks came from.

Two questions, 1) does anyone else have the clearance problem between the
top of the stick and the panel? And 2) if there is plan to make modified
sticks or a source, can someone share the details?

[rebel-builders] Variations on control sticks

Hi Roland !

I wouldn't worry about it ! The Rebel sticks have always touched
the panel - definitely DO NOT cut them shorter !! It will add to
control forces ...

Others have drilled a hole in the welded stop to fit 2 nuts & a bolt,
to make an adjustable stop - I think this was the original intent ...

When you come to adjust the cables, you can set it so the sticks
only touch in the corners if you want... All 4 of my Rebels touched ...
You will never need full forward anyway - that's why the majority have
elevators set to 27 to 30 degrees UP, and maybe 20 degrees or
less DOWN - you don't need a lot of down.... Even lifting the tail
on skis ! ;-)

Me too. I cut them as much as I could and still have the RAC stick
grips fit on them. See http://n254mr.com/node/1406 . I think you'll
find that's what most people have done. My grips still hit the panel's
slanted side sections... but only in what would amount to a strong
bank, heavy dive condition that's highly unlikely to ever be used.

The farther bent back sticks (about 5") were available from MAM for
rebels with the firewall moved back 3".
