flaperon sections gap fairing......and questions

bottom section extends forward of the flaperon horns. Top and bottom are
not joined at the front on this plane.
It looks very neatly done and I'll use some of it in 818,but I wonder
if the two "fingers" extending forward from the flaperon horns are needed?
The second pic also shows a doubler around the slot in the bottom wing
skin for the torque tube horn, something I've seen on some other rebels.
One side of which is supported by a wing rib. Is this doubler useful or
necessary?
