Thrust bearing

Hello All

A couple years back there was a swivel thrust bearing that was advertized by
one of our builders. It replaced the short push-pull tube between the pilots
stick and the flaperon bell crank CC-47-2. Can anyone tell me if/or how well
it worked, is it still available?

Hi Charlie,
I saw Ron Shannon fitted something like you are asking about to his
Rebel. I think it is to allow enough for and aft stick movement while still
using a jam nut at each end of the short push pull tube. Unlike the MAM
instruction to jam only one end and allow the other end to rotate partly in
the thread. If I read you correctly.
FWIW, after some experimenting, I have gone with Wayne O'Sheas
suggestion and used a short length of fairly thin walled steel tube
(automotive fuel line) placed on the bolt each side of the spherical joint
to space the horn and washers apart and allow the joint to rotate enough to
allow full stick movement with 2 jam nuts. I was surprised to find I only
needed to do this at one end to achieve more movement than is needed. Had
to adjust the clearance between things a little to prevent bolt heads
fouling brackets and stuff but simple to do.
Thanks Wayne!
Hope that's useful Cheers Mike
