Hi Tim

I've got the AOA Sport from advanced in my Elite. Hopefully I'll be able to
let you know in a couple of months from now.

Prop on today - hopefully first engine start tomorrow :o)

Anyone using an Angle of Attack instrument in a Rebel or other?

I was wondering if such a thing would be useful in a machine like a Rebel,
and also wondering if such a device would work well on a wing with Vortex
Generators.

[rebel-builders] Angle of Attack instrument

I finally got around to doing the in flight calibration procedure for my AFS
AOA (EFIS display) just last week. The factory default settings seemed to be
so close to correct I hadn't bothered to complete the calibration before now
(87 TTAF). It's one of several functions in the plane that I'm finally
getting around to learning. (See
http://advanced-flight-systems.com/Prod ... A/aoa.html for the details,
and links to their manual, which is quite informative.) Now that I know the
calibration is correct, I expect to use it more, concurrently with recent
efforts to tune up airspeed control, which had been getting less than
precise

Perhaps the primary benefit for a Rebel -- as with others, I guess -- is the
consistent picture it provides regardless of aircraft loadings. And much
easier carrier landings, of course. ;)

Have VG's, will report further.

Ron

I have an AOA of lift reserve indicator on my rebel with VGs and just love
it. I never use my airspeed indicator on takeoff and constantly cross check
back and forth between both instruments on landing.
