So what's the difference between a boot cowl and a firewall?

Ted,

It is a Daytona Cub (a derivative from Smith Cubs). Kit was being sold
out
of Daytona Beach (Spruce Creek, I believe) when I bought the kit a few
years
ago after finishing my Super Rebel. Daytona is out of business, but I have
all parts and everything is pretty well cub standard anyway. In fact,
almost
identical to a Super Cub except the fuselage is 4" wider. Some have
provisions for seaplane doors (doors on both sides), this one does not. It
has been sitting 90% complete - 90% to go - in the corner of the hanger
for
several years. Fabric and paint are now complete and engine is being
hung -
an O-360 from Aero Sport with electronic ignition. Will have toe brakes
and
an all glass cockpit with dual Dynons, - in fact the EMS wiring through
the
boot cowl is the current project (why they ever designed a boot cowl
instead
of just a firewall is beyond me). Large screen moving map GPS, back up A/S
&
altimeter, strobes, intercom, electronic buss control. Should be a nice
airplane, but don't know what I'm going to do with it - don't need two
airplanes, and the SR sure is easier to get in and out of.

Hey Charlie,

I'm looking into building one of the many Super Cub experimental
replicas.
What one are you doing? Did you pick one up from someone or purchase
from
manf? What engine are you going to use?

Thanks!

FWIW|: I just received an exhaust system for a Super Cub replica that I'm
building from John Frosling. While. It took a few weeks for both of us to
work out all of the "fitting" problems, it's beautiful work, fit
perfectly,
and his price - especially compared to a previous vendor - was more than
reasonable. He can be contacted at 303-903-3290. He loves to talk, so be
prepared, however he's very interesting and easy to deal with and really
seems to want to help you.
