The Murphy Builders Site

I finally got on the server tonight and created the new 2001 archives... I
took the search from off the archives page because it didn't work anyway. I
think that FrontPage search feature was just overwhelmed by the number of
files and the amount of text in them in the archives.

I've made some good progress with the new server the last couple of days. I
have the lists working properly, but the mail server is slow to respond when
a new connection is established, so I'm waiting for a response from the
software company about that before I'll be ready to ship it off... but it is
close.

Just for kicks, I set up a sample file database called a drop in, with over
500,000 entries. I then did all sorts of searches on it... typically with a
second I had any where from 10,000 to 25,000 results! Very fast, very nice
search capabilities.

Well, it doesn't appear that things were working quite right on the new
server, so we're back on the old system again. I'm waiting on answers to a
couple of questions about the problems I was having. I'm in quite the spot
here... I love figuring out problems on computers, but I sure hate missing
my Rebel mail!

Well I was hoping that it wouldn't have gotten everyone... I personally
received 22,009 messages at last count! Sure hope the system doesn't keep
sending messages, I changed some settings so new mail will go to the old
system, but the new one could still send stuff out. I should have it shut
down in about another 2 hours.

I'm sorry everybody... I should have a key to the location of the new server

I got over 900 mails via the list from AOL. I am
wondering if someone had one of the multiple virus
attacks which overloads the systems. They kept coming
up to 9:00 am this morning when I filtered out the
sender.
