[rebel-builders] Rebel baffles

Mike With the Van's baffle kit you'll have lots of height ,you'll have to probably have to trim some, take alittle at a time. Also you'll have trim and bend on the air intake.I mounted my oil cooler on the firewall but haven't flown it yet so can't tell whats better either way my kit came with the material and instructions to mount the cooler to the rear of the baffle.I seem to remember that there wasn't quite enough room between the baffle and the Dynofocal engine mount.

Hi all,
Previous and recent discussions are very positive about the Vans
baffle kits. I'm getting close to baffling an 0-320 Rebel,818R..... and am
happy with a Vans 13" spinner so far. Does anyone have any further comments
on these baffles? And can anyone tell me if the height of the Vans baffles
suits the Murphy speed cowl, or are mods necessary?
The idea of mounting the oil cooler on the rear baffle seems good to
me, as Wayne and Tony Bingelis suggest, which might need some strengthening
of the area maybe?
All thoughts will be appreciated.
Cheers Mike

The Van's baffle kit works fine with the Murphy Speed Cowl,
but have to be cut down to fit the cowl (as I suspect that
is required for most installations). Takes a bit of fitting
for the inlets. Material needs to be cut away to form good fit.

I am happy with using the Vans 13" spinner which also took a
bit of fitting for my Sensenich prop

Guy's
I have been following the traffic on the baffles, great thanks.
Understand the using of the Vans product and cutting to match our Rebel
speed cowl.
But looking on the Vans site you can order for an 0320 for a RV 6, 7 or 8 for
example.
Is there a difference in the Vans product? and have any of you Rebel builders
found that there hasn't been enough excess to trim?
Easier to ask now than find issues when it turns up on my side of the Pacific.
Regards
Thanks
