Must be an unlucky page Jason. It is missing from my manual too although
I think I had it at one time.

[rebel-builders] weight and balance page two

Page is probably pointless anyhow.

MDRA seems to be set on, the stupidity, of the fictional datum point
somewhere out in front of your airplane...... as apparently we are incabable
of multiplying/subtracting negative datum points like we've done for
decades.

Since you're starting on floats Jason.. start with a datum at the front end
of the top deck rail, then all points back from there, nose wheel and
everything else will be a postitive measurement. Just be sure to make some
notes for yourself to compare this float front position to the MAM
recommended datum point (wing leading edge/door post centre) and C of G
range so you don't drive yourself nuts. Last Rebel I put amphibs on had an
existing W & B/equipment list using the spinner nose as the datum......
drove me nuts after years of using the door post.

You will need to get the ass end up a bit to get the fuselage cabin bottom
level to get the weights on each wheel. Then do all your calculations and
see where you are at for empty C of G. I always like to retract the gear
while on the chain falls, lower the bird and roll the airplane (on floats)
on a 10 foot long tube until it balances slightly nose down and mark the
positon on the spray rail.. the measure to datum. Just a physical check that
the numbers are right....

Also remember, with you starting on Amphibs you will need to submit a new W
& B, cover letter etc (and if you followed proper protocal probably a flight
test permit) for when you change over to wheel gear at any time in the
future. Heck they might even make you do a climb test!

Jason,

I can look and see if it's in my manual; I haven't used it yet so it should be "fresh". Let me know if you still need it after the other's comments. Craig
