Fus 11 and Fus 7 to stainless firewall

Fus 11 L & R front edge connection to the Fus 6 .020 thick Stainless
firewall. I need help in understanding what MAM intended at this
connection. I have Rebel S/N 392. The top and bottom edge flanges of
Fus 11 interfere with the firewall at the ends of the side flanges.
Does one cut back the flanges of FUS 11 to clear or cut a notch in the
firewall to pass the fus 11 flanges through the firewall to clear. I am
inclined to cut back the FUS 11 flanges so as not to create any larger
hole though the firewall since I believe all the engine loads here are
carried in shear to the fus 11 and fus7 panels. The manual I have
doesnt even mention the existence of flanges on the Fus11 pieces. The
same happens when I look at the Fus 7 on the bottom. Appreciate
knowing what others have done here.

Mike,
You just trim back the top and bottom flange on the Fus 11 L and 11 R to clear the
firewall. I cut them back the depth of the firewall plus 1/16".
Trim the front flanges of Fus-7 the same way.
For Fus 7 Figure 114 in my manual shows the front flanges cut back at the firewall.
The flanges at the rear of Fus-7 will also need to be trimmed away to allow them to slide
under the carrythrough tubes.
One thing that will help the Fus-11's fit better is if you brake a bend at the door
post so that the Fus-11 is angled toward the firewall. You can do this on your table with
some boards and clamps.
Unless you are putting on a light engine i.e. Rotax 912 etc. make sure you go to
Wayne O'Shay's web site to include the upper and lower firewall/ engine mount
reinforcements.
