[rebel-builders] Preventing Moose/SR stinger side-to-side movement

I must agree with Ted, Dale Fultz dfultz17086@embarqmail.com entire
tail stinger system is a very gooood way to go. At the forward end he uses
a rubber bushing to absorb the shock. I mounted mine using nut plates
riveted to a .032" plate to make installation and removal possible, also
added access panels below the Horizontal Stab in the tail cone area, there
are examples in the archives. Their have been a few reported problems in
that area and it will be easier to repair if/when it happens to your craft.

Does any one need an original SR-3500 Tail Stinger and mounting brackets?

Use washers to insure a tight fit. You won't wear the bolt hole in the
stinger; you will, however, and almost inevitably regardless of how firm you
washer up the stinger to the FUS-360 (right # ?) mount, end up with
elongated holes in the FUS-360 holes. So while you're at it, install
nutplates/anchor nuts on the back side of each FUS-360 (right/left parts) so
it's easier to replace them later.

Or, create your own custom front stinger mount (as some have done) or buy
Dale Fultz's custom front mount.

Guys,

Quick question: I have a custom stinger purchased from another builder a few
years back. It's 1 inch in diameter, so there is a slight gap either side of
the stinger up in the tailcone where it mounts.

What have others done to take up this gap? I was thinking either delrin
spacers or some sort of rubber cushion. Thoughts and/or suggestions?

I can see if you don't prevent the side-to-side movement it will eventually
wear the bolt hole on the stinger.

Thanks, -Jason
