Fish uses a pump from a convertible automobile top which added 8 lbs
IIRC. Other guys have used a marine trim hydraulic pump. I've heard
weights quoted from 8 to 25 lbs for those setups.

I have a pressure switch which is an input to my audio warning system
but I like the manual pump and the fact that if I count 11 strokes down
and 13 up, I know all the wheels have gone full travel. I drilled the
reservoir out for a 1/4" npt fitting and used Watts check valves so I
can pump quite fast and there is no cavitation. I think I can position
the gear as fast as the convertible pump. FWIW I also put a cheap in
line fuel filter in the return so that any debris does not chew up the
o-rings.

Well I finally have my gear fixed. I had to rebuild the front gear
and hand pump. I found the four bolts that the gear rolls on were
bent. The hand pump o-rings were hard and the bore of the hand pump
had riples in it so I honed the bore.

I'm looking for an electric pump to pump the gear. Does any one have
any suggestions.
