[rebel-builders] W-618 Wing Strut Fitting Wanted

Post by Alan Hepburn » Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:05 pm

I don't suppose the CAA will approve machining one from solid? It's not
like it's an FAA/PMA part.

Subject: [rebel-builders] W-618 Wing Strut Fitting Wanted

Hi All

I'm desperately trying to find someone with a spare W-618 wing strut fitting
(attach bracket) to sell (even a salvage one would do) to get an Elite
flying over here in the UK.

There are 2 of these inside the top and 2 inside the bottom of each wing
strut on the Elite and Rebel.

The original has corrosion and is not acceptable for use by our CAA.

The aircraft is apart from that ready for first flight.

If anyone has a source I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks
Nigel

I don't have my manual with me but is W618 the doubler that rivets to the spar or its it the actual fitting? I have MAM's drawing for the doubler if it's that. If you need it let me know. Craig

[rebel-builders] W-618 Wing Strut Fitting Wanted

Post by N.Smith » Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:05 pm

Hi Craig

No... it's an Elite only part I now think, there are 2 used that fit inside
the strut and are used to join the strut to the bracket that comes out of
the wing underside.

I'm told the Rebel is done differently.

Thank for the reply

Nig
