[rebel-builders fiberglass tail wheel leaf spring]
Posted: Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:05 pm
Is there anyone out there who has made a tail wheel leaf spring out of fiberglass. I made landing gear out of fiberglass on a previous project and it worked out well.

All
I just got back from a local fly-in where I talked to a representative from
Matco. They show cased a new (to me) 8" pneumatic Dual arm tail wheel part #
WHLT-8D and it only weights 6.7 Lbs. and list for $399.51. Looks pretty
good. I wondered if others had either seen are heard anything about this new
tail wheel?
Using Murphy's standard alum spring the total weight would be 8.2 Lbs.

I've never had any trouble getting stopped in a few hundred feet with my
wheel skis but they're kinda draggy in the snow. Fresh snow slows you down
a lot faster than packed snowe does.

Hi Charlie !
Can't find any mention anywhere .....
About time they smartened up & built something with
2 arms - maybe because of market demand ??!!!! ;-)
Sounds like it might be worth a whirl ....

Subject: Next Murphy Builders Meeting - THIS Sunday, Sept 19th !
Last minute reminder !!
It's that time again !!!
The next Murphy Builders of Ontario Meeting is Sunday, September 19th,
at 1:00 pm. at the RAA-TR Hangar at the north end of Brampton Airport.
====== ==========
(North-West of Toronto, Ontario, Canada) (CNC3)
*** Note the START TIME !! There's going to be a LOT of interesting
stuff to cover, so...... We will start at 1:15 , and
try to finish about 4:00 -- to make things easier for those
who fly in, or drive in from long distances ...
*************************************************************************
Bring those 'tech support questions' and some things for Show 'n Tell !
---------------------------------------------
We'll be in the hangar again - hope it warms up ! Dress warmly !!
Sorry this is late - looks like there are quite a few of our loyal standbys
who can't make it for this one because of the date change ... sigh !
We'll do our best to have a good one anyway ! :-)
**********************************************************************
You don't want to miss all the fun, so PLEASE BE HERE for 1:00 !
**********************************************************************
We're going to return to the 'kit type' forum format for
this meeting, with Q & A. These forums are short 'mini-seminars' on
the different kits. Ken has kindly become leader of the Rebel forum,
and he always brings new and interesting information & gadgets. He
<may> bring his "Rebel Rubber Ducky" to the meeting again. We're
looking forward to his tips & tales of float building, and whatever
else he'll bring ! * Doesn't look like he can make this one !! * :-(
We're still hoping to see our first fly-in Moose for this meeting !
Sure hoping for good weather ... and a chance to check out a
flying Moose !
We're looking for experienced builders to volunteer
to lead the sessions for the Moose, Elite, etc., ideally on a regular
basis for all future meetings.
Maybe an Elite expert will make it to this meeting, OR -
we might even have a fly-in NEW Elite from Stoney Creek !! :-)
We also hope to see some of the new Rebels in Ontario ...
There's room for a Maverick section, too, if we have interest....
Who will be recognized as the builder who has
"Made the Most Progress Since the Last Meeting" ??
It's always a tough call, and now the building season is slowing -
- so be here for the introductions & progress updates !!
YOU could take home the Copper Cleco Trophy !
-- Who is next for this one ???
The trophies will be back,
...... so we can award one to YOU this time -
- IF you've been busy rivetting ! ;-)
Lots of news ! Come learn the latest on the NEXT Rebel Ramble -
we had to cancel this year -- trying again for 2011 !
Come learn the latest from the factory - things are moving again,
with production runs now on for Floats and Mooses !!
We REALLY hope the weather will be good, so we can see a
bunch of "Fly-In" Rebels/Elites/Meeses/whatevers !! The weather
channel is calling for sun, so we hope to get a good turnout.
Don't take chances if it's raining -- better to DRIVE & arrive alive !!
If you do drive, you can join us for pizza & beer afterward !! ;-)
We'll also have some new guests & Rebel builders, and another
draw for Rebel crests...
As always, we'll have some useful software CDs to hand out
at the end, for those still suffering with/from Win-Doze ! :-)
Should be an interesting meeting !
Phone us for updates or directions - (905) 457-5238.
Hope to see you all there ! There is a lot of experience to share ...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Free coke, spring water, coffee & donuts, as usual - everyone welcome !
(Even if you don't have a Rebel <yet> !) ;-)
We'll have tea, muffins, bagels, cream cheese, & jam, too !!
.....bobp & Anna
--------------------------------------------------------------
p.s. We usually go out for pizza & beer after the meeting - all welcome !
Next Meeting - Sunday, November 14th, 2010 !
