Roland,
I went on a tour of MAM when I got the new manuals for my Rebel. They showed me the thinning method using MEK for sealing the rivets on the inside of the tank. That is what I used and it made the proseal flow nicely over the rivets. I did not thin it for sealing the skins to the ribs.

NO NOT MEK or lacquer thinner or paint thinners such as mineral spirits,
turpentine!!!

Toluene or some times marketed as Toluol, and Xylene, was the thinner of
choice for Zinc Chromate primer products. It is used in the tank sealants
such as PRC-1422- in the manufacturing process.


We...in the airline business used many quarts of the tank sealant. If it
was too thick to flow into places we needed it, it was thinned down. After
it has flowed down into the tight spots the thinners evaporate or are part
of the cure process. We often flew in under 12 hours with no leaks.

Can be found at most automotive paint suppliers, A/C Spruce, or home depot
in some areas

This is how I used some of my sealant on my Moose...of course no I have not
flown it...yet. Still building & trying to get it right
