wing repair

Post by Ken » Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:05 pm

I'm hesitant to answer such a scary question. Hopefully you will measure
and confirm with certainty the thickness of what needs to be repaired.
You may be able to read markings on the material.

However my wing skins are 0.020 6061T6
Spar was 0.062 same material.
That was for a 1650 lb on wheels Rebel which has top and bottom bolted
on 1/4 x 1" spar reinforcements in the strut attach area as detailed in
the manual (or in the upgrade documentation if you have a very old
manual for the 1500 lb airframe). Please make sure you have those
reinforcements unless it is operating as an ultralight. I don't know
what material the 1/4 x 1" straps are.

Bolted on fittings are the stronger 2024T3 I believe.
