It seems funny you have cracks in the top area and not the bottom.
I personally do not like how the hing bracket is mounted. I would like to see a u shaped bracket that runs out to the edge and riveted on and also bolted on so the load is carried across the whole face of the mounting area.
That would never be mounted like that in the certified world.

It's kind of interesting that the cracks seem to lead to the edge of the
washers, rather than to the bolt holes themselves.
