The factory always brings the demo a/c down, and they have a few local
folks bring their planes.... Get a message to Bob Patterson....He is the
guy I met at SnF last year....Nice Guy... See y'all there...

Hi Travis

Possibly Bob P. will be flying down with his new machine. Weather
permitting, I will be flying down in #328. Hopefully painted.

Look forward to seeing & meeting Rebel enthusiasts!

Regards

I suspect it might mean they won't be there ! Getting the
amphib floats for the Moose finished in time was a bit tooooo
ambitious, I'm afraid ......

But there may be another plan in the works ...... :-)

PS
Was anybody out there planning on heading to SnF to ORDER
a kit ??? How about - any interest in joining a bunch of Rebels
from Ontario to fly down ??? (I'm seriously considering it !!)

Wayne:
Talked at length with Bob Patterson and numerous others.(Who ever talked at
short length with BOB, eh Bob?) The cervesa was much appreciated Bob. Next
round for us is on me.
I'm looking forward to the first Rebel Ramble that N616PM does, Bob! The
pictures from the last one were awesome!
Wayne.talking with the group of people there. you are the man! What a great
wealth of knowledge and inspiration you have been. Thanks for your time. I
realize it is time consuming with you feeling you are in the limelight but
believe me we respect and value your input to the group.
Not many Rebels at the show.actually didn't spend much time so didn't see
any on the line as I had a mission to find parts and return home.
MAC had the Moose on the line, a Renegade, JDM and the sorry looking
'Philippine riveted' Rebel fuselage with the Rotec radial on display. I don'
t buck a lot of rivets but if that was my display I probably would have
covered the fuselage with a tarp! Wish the radial had a lot of hours on it
before I chose a Subaru. Nice looking engine.
No pictures as the battery on the Sony digital went south at the Splash In
on Friday.

Sun&Fun weather after the first day of torrential rain and high wind was the
nicest in years. The crowds were down a little so you could get through the
buildings and the seminars were informative. Saturdays night airshow was
spectacular and the fireworks were as good as any ever seen. On top of that
Bob P bought a number of rounds Thursday - thanks again Bob! Five Howard
DGAs and about 6 C195s all in a row and all nice. St Brendans and coffee
every morning and desert was strawberry shortcake on homemade biscuits every
night.

Lack of reporting is because we who went didn't want you stay at homes
crying salty tears at the glowing reports and corroding your aluminum stock.
The downers were I still can't decide what to build next for LSA, when it
finally gets here and N624E has air under its wheels and paint on its skin
and lack of a Rebel and Elite at the MAM display as well as the Moose
quarantined at the demo area.

Hello Wayne!

This year Sun'Fun was (for me) better than last year, but the 2000 one for
me was best (may be because it was the firts one). Fun to meet other
builders. May be because I am now building, one of the thing I really
enjoy, was to spend time in the parts, tools and hardware resailers. Anyway,
7 days out of the office, sun, airplane and nice peoples..... I am sure you
understand..

Well, Wayne..we had a real good time there. Got to see much of want we wanted to, bought
more stuff than I really needed and we served over 80 people at our BBQ on the Friday night.
We had people from many groups attend the BBQ including the Rebel group, Bearhawkers,
Auto conversion nuts, Christavia, Zenair and many others.

Sun-n-Fun

by Sharen & James Savinkoff
We were not ready to leave for Lakeland on the Saturday before Sun 'n Fun
and then the weather moved in on Sunday at our home base of Parkersburg
(PKB), WV with heavy rain Monday, Tuesday and until noon on Wednesday. The
system finally moved off the airport so we took off towards the west and got
up over the clouds and it was smooth after that with a substantial tail
wind. We landed at Baxley Air, GA for the $1.99 per gal. Av gas (Auto gas
at the pump at home was $1.899!) A bonus was the hot dogs and hamburgers
provided by the operators. There was a brisk cross wind at the time, which
made for good practice and a very interesting time for my wife. I think I
can still see her fingerprints in the dash. Since we could not land at
Lakeland until 6 p.m. we hung around for an hour and then flew as slow as I
could stand it (still with the tail wind) and we arrived over Lake Parker at
6 p.m. but due to the large number of departures after the airshow that day
we had to circle Lake Parker for a half hour anyway. Once the airport
opened again for landings, we were down and at our camp site within 20
minutes.
It sure was cold in the tent at night and it took three nights of sleeping
with our clothes on and finally a trip to Walmart for an extra blanket
before we were comfy. But the day time temps in the low 70'sF and nice
breeze for all that walking was just perfect. The builders get together
arranged by Bob P. was very much appreciated and thanks for the beer(s) Bob.
It was nice to meet the others in the group and put a face to the names.
We started watching the night airshow but got cold so decided to crawl into
the sack thinking it was mostly over anyway. However, it went on for about
another 1/2 hour and we heard but did not see the fireworks. Darn.
I spent quite a bit of time at the Murphy demo in the "quarantine area"
taking more pictures and questioning Robyn on how to do the next phase on my
Moose. I purchased some new and some used parts and acquired about 30 lbs
of reading material. Before Sun 'n Fun I was kinda decided on the panel I
wanted but after seeing some of the computerized avionics stuff I am
undecided again. I really like the old style dash panel instruments and
think that one little square instrument instead of four or five separate
gauges will look funny in that great expanse of the Moose dash panel. Oh
well, more decisions to make.

The food at Jimmy Buffets Air Margaritaville was great as was the giant
turkey drumstick booth.
What more can I say, six days of flying, camping, planes and aviation stuff
to look at, great people to meet and talk aviation with makes for a good
time. I currently fly a Piper Cherokee 235 that we pack practically to the
back of our heads with camping gear. We eat the food and haul back reading
material and parts.

As the weather was moving in again at Parkersburg, WV (PKB) Monday evening
we packed up after the dew was gone and took off for home by 11:30 a.m. with
another stop at the very hospitable Baxley, GA airport and arrived at PKB
just ahead of the rain at 5:30 P.M.

We are already looking forward to Oshkosh. Will anyone else be going?

James

Hi Dale !

Have heard that Murphy will NOT have a booth this year - unconfirmed.

Haven't had time to check on other events there yet - we will likely
have a builders get-together evening --- will let everyone know when
I have more info. Think the night airshow is Wed. - so Tue. or Thur.
are good possibilities ...

With no booth, I guess we'll have to decide on a meeting place
before the show .... Maybe Margaritaville ??? :-)

Looking forward to seeing everyone there !
