[rebel-builders] Firewall material for Reb #786 (manufactured 2003-2004)?

Post by Bob Palmer » Sun Feb 19, 2012 6:31 pm

Of course aluminum is also non ferrous. Stainless is much heavier, often
has very sharp edges and is hard enough to tell the difference with a
file. It also has a slightly darker gray color.

Rob, I doubt that any manufacture would make a f/w that was not to
standards for heat resistance.

You could try to test the material with a file, if an edge is accessible in
a non critical location. Alum is soft, SS is much harder, you should be
able to tell the difference with just a few strokes.
