Hi: I have a set of wing tips and a right aileron if you can use them.
I am at Arlington and they are in my hangar..........Richard. aka.

Thanks, very, very much, JP. I will be happy to pay you for it. If you can
find it, I will be extremely grateful. Finding one is by far the biggest
problem in my predicament.

At the moment, 254R is stranded only 40 air miles from home, but three
hours
each way by ground. Sorry I couldn't respond earlier. I just got back from
a
long day of driving there and back, but did get in four solid hours of
work.
There was a fairly light tip strike, but after getting the tip off
(repairable) I was able to confirm the wing end rib, flaperon hinge, and
rear spar are all undamaged, as I had hoped. Whew! It could have been a lot
worse. I have a hangar for a few days, and am scrambling for something a
little longer term, which looks promising.

If you do find the leg, you might want to just drop it off at a UPS Store,
or Mailboxes, Etc., and have them pack it up. It costs a bit, but I've
always had good results from that service, and I wouldn't want you to have
to go to a lot of trouble. I can reimburse you directly, or call the
packer/shipper with a credit card... whatever is most convenient for you.

It will be a great relief to find a gear leg. It looks like the rest will
be
straightforward.

busted some other sheet metal and wing tips, etc.

I ended up buying a complete new set of gear. I probably still have the
old
unbent one around somewhere. You can have it if I can locate it.

Thanks! Just got home.I would like to look at your right aileron. Mine is
quite repairable, but I'd like to consider all options. I won't be back to
AWO until Sat-Sun. Will you be around either day? If so, I could schedule to
sync up. It would be nice to meet you.

[rebel-builders]Wing tip and aileron

Hi
I can be there either day. I live only 15 minutes from the airport and
will be glad to let you use the aileron.
Steve Sloan just called and we were both wondering where the airplane is
now. He thought it might be at Arlington. Both he and I have all kinds of
hardware. Do you need the wingtip also?

[rebel-builders]Wing tip and aileron

Yes, as of today 254R is in one of the large (palatial!) private hangars at
the NE end of 34 at AWO, which I can have for two months, if it takes that
long. It shouldn't take nearly that long -- if/when I can find a good leg. J
Portman may have one, and Bernie Asher has a set I am still learning more
about.

To save the whole list from having to wade through all the minutiae, Ill
send more details to you off list direct. I don't expect to have to do a lot
of construction there -- so far -- but would really appreciate getting to
look at your aileron and pow-wow with you folks about the situation in any
case. I haven't gotten to chat with Steve for a couple of years now --
definitely my loss. (I can come over either day too. If Steve can join,
perhaps he has a preference.) Please give him my regards, and thanks very
much to both of you for your thoughts and interest.

Ron
