Yes, they told me to use 1 1/2 inch spacing on the stabs instead of 3 inches
as on the wings.

The land shorter vg's need the slight curve sanded flat so they stay glued
to
the stab. I used a bench mounted belt sander, it doesn't take much to get
them flat. They should have came with a pattern for the stab, it is a closer

spacing than on the wings. After putting the vg's on the wings I had to put
a
set on the stab to get more elevator at slow speeds, but I still don't seem
to
have quite enough. I am quite happy with the better performance and control
I got with the land shorter vg's.

Did you try different spacings forward of the hinge on the elevator?

No,
I just went with the recommended spacings and placement.
The stab vg's are harder to put on and keep glued on, I just found a nice
grassy spot to lay on my back to install them.

Thanks Allen and Walter. I will take the elevators off and glue them on at
1.5" spacings as close to the hinge line as possible. That comes after I get
the floats to quit leaking.

Garry, you might want to give Harrison a call and see what he says. I am not
sure about how close to the hinge line they should be. I would try with the
double sided carpet tape in a couple positions to see what happens.

Eric, didn't you put them on your stabs?

Hi Garry !

The VG's usually go on the bottom of the stab, about
an inch ahead of the hinge line .... not on the elevators ! ;-)

....and definitely NOT on TOP of the stab - I did the test
flying on a Rebel years ago that had them on top - just a
mistake .... might have helped with outside loops though ! ;-)

We're in a motel in Michigan City - about 65 miles east of
Chicago - hope to hit OSH tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon late ...
maybe in time for supper at Friar Tuck's !! :-) :-)

See everybody at the Moose !
