[rebel-builders] Strut farings

Did you get any takers on the fairings? I might not use mine; if I don't,
you can have them. Let me know. Craig

Do any of you have any extra strut farings? My kit (R259) did not have
any.
Instructions do not give dimensions so I'm having problems making.

[rebel-builders] Strut farings

Craig - thanks for the offer - There hasn't been any offers! So I'd like to
take you up on your offer if you do not use them.
Are they fiberglass or aluminum? My instruction manual doesn't give material
or dimensional specifications so I've been thinking of making a set using
clay to sculpt a smooth transition around the strut bolts then molding a
fiberglass shell.

Having your's would save me a bunch of time, however! Right now I'm
re-building the flaps and ailerons as they were built with standard pop
rivets and I'd like to change to flush rivets so I can fabric cover without
bumps.

Anyway - if you decide to not use your fairings let me know.

[rebel-builders] Strut farings

Post by snowyrvr@mtaonline.net » Sun Feb 19, 2012 6:30 pm

I'll see if I can make a decision here soon. Then you won't be hanging.
If nothing else, you could use my set to make yours.

On the flaperon re-rivet: after I built mine, someone told me to CS the
rivets around the leading edge because they'd rub against the rear spar
after they were covered. I cn't tell yet if that'll be an issue. Just a
thought. Craig

Hello Tom
Sounds like you are getting pretty close to flying. I passed your place
while going up to Oshkosh this year. I guess you know Si Smith and his sons?
If you ever get down near St. Louis give me a call and stop by.About to hang
the engine.
