Hi all

So I need lock wire to finish a bunch of stuff.

Question, is the lock wire I get from say aircraft spruce any different than
an equal gage from a local hardware store if both are stainless

Cheers

Mike,
This is an area where I would not cut corners for a tiny saving. There is no way as a consumer to know how the "official" safety wire is alloyed and annealed. (Although it could probably be researched) It at least is packed as safety wire and has a spec #. Hardware store wire - most likely from China - is non traceable. You don't know without testing how it would perform when twisted, bent, and kinked. It is called safety wire for a reason. I would not take the chance on substitution.
