[rebel-builders] Spring Gear on Murphy Rebel

Wally,

I had this problem with my gear. It turned out that Murphy had two lengths
of drag strut - 7/8" different in length. Check them for length. Mine was
very difficult to handle until I found this problem and after was a pussy
cat. Prior to fixing it a 25' wide paved strip would be scary to say the
least. Afterward, no problem at all. I have reason to believe that years ago
one of the struts was replaced after a ground loop or something and because
it was normally on floats, the problem was never tracked down. Most
discussions on this subject suggest neutral on toe in. The camber argument
is probably a red herring because it changes with loading and I have never
had a problem with that. Good luck.
