I'm building SR#029 and just starting the wing skins. At this stage I'm
going to Countersink the leading edges and may do the entire wing after
I see what's involved. I've made up a neat tool that should make it go
quite quick. I took a bolt that
fit the end of the pheumatic rivet gun that MAM sell, drilled a 1/8"
hole in the centre thru the head and shaft, mounted in a drill press,
then using a large "C" clamp as a tool rest used a file to machine the
head to the same shape as the male dimpler leaving a couple of flat
spots on the sides of the head to allow tightening with a wrench. Then I
machined the threaded end to the same shape as the internal part of the
gun tip. Tried dimpling a few holes and I can move along quite fast.
(who says you need a fancy milling lathe) Have also ordered an
adjustable CS tool to do the stringers and spar. With these I think I
can do up the wings in short order. I've also used this jerry rigged way
of milling for other projects with great results. Good luck!
