Roland.. cutting them has merit, but it also adds a lot of work since you
now don't have the proper structure to rivet the control column tubes to
anymore. The neatest one I saw, to save some weight, was the way Howard
Hanford did his originally. He marked where the CColumn was going to go and
while running the Fus-5's thru the bandsaw to cut in half, he left a full
width "flange"/bump at each bearing base location.

Personally.. if I was concerned about those couple pounds.. I would take the
time to put lightning holes in every rear floor channel instead.

I am starting to work on the cabin area and have a question regarding the
fus 5 carrythrough. In the instructions it gives the option of cutting one
in half lengthwise or using it completely as is. Given that I have two fus
5s, wouldn't I just use them both, as opposed to cutting one in half.

Just looking for a bit of guidance again. Not really keen on making this
long cut unless I have to. BTW, not planning on spring gear.
