[rebel-builders] Vert Stab offset and dorsal fin
Posted: Sun Feb 19, 2012 6:23 pm
Hi Roland !
FWIW, lots of us have found that it's a LOT easier to just build
the vertical fin in the center. No matter what offset you do, it will
only be good for one speed and power setting - and it's a lot easier
to mount the fin centered when it comes to do fairings, etc....
It's a good idea to add a trim tab extended from the back center
of the rudder anyway - worst case, you might have to bend it a bit
for hands-off flying .... about 2 - 3" wide, about 6 or 8" high -
rivetted to ribs & skin - maybe a few holes to ease bending...

Is the offset for the vert stab the same when you install the dorsal fin?
Just thought I would ask before I drill too many holes.
Also, should I wait until the very end of the build to install the dorsal
fin?
