[rebel-builders] rear wing mount spacers

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Sun Feb 19, 2012 6:23 pm

I'm missing something here! There is no room for the rear wing attach
fittings to use "spacers" on a REBEL ! .. unless the builder modified
something. The wing attach fitting(double layer) slides right into the
opening of the Fuselage fittings gap.(which compromises of 4 layers.. with
the 2 outers capturing the wing fittings).

The front wing attach is spaced as needed ....to fill the gaps inside the 1"
x 2" upper carrythru tube... and position is dicated by where the rear
attach puts it.

The rear attach on the Rebel is TIGHTENED.. not left floating. Only the full
blown Moose leaves the rear wing attach floating... so that the forward
attach can take more of the loads.

Subject: [rebel-builders] rear wing mount spacers

Greetings; A few weeks back I followed the discussion about mounting the
wings on the Rebel. ThenI had occasion to the remove the wings on My
Rebel and found that there were custom made spacers on both the front and
rear wing mounting mounting bolts. So now the painting is done and it is
time to reattach the wings. my delima is to use spacers on the rear bolts
or not. I would to mount them according to factory specs but I do not
understand the reason for letting the rear mounts float. I would
appriciate any information on the subject that you can give me. By the
way my rebel flew very nicely the way it was before anexcellent performer.
Thank you Wally.

[rebel-builders] rear wing mount spacers

Post by Dick Wampach » Sun Feb 19, 2012 6:23 pm

Wally, there are differences on mounting the rear spar attachment on a Rebel
verses a Super Rebel (SR-2500, SR3500). The SR series rear spar must be
free to float forward / aft. As I recall much of the recent discussion was
on the SR.
