I have Rebel #300, the floor under the front seats is partially
complete.

I noticed that the new manual shows the ST-31s doubled up (figure
12.15.1). In my Rebel, those ST-31 are not doubled up (the old manual
shows single channels). Does anyone know specifically why this area is
beefed up? Have there been instances of buckling? If I need to double
up those channels, I better buy the extra channel and do it now.

My Manual, dated 7/27/94 rev. 01/11/95 page 13-112 figure 107 of the fuselage
assembly shows "double up channels" ST-31 under the seats. The seat rails
mount to these. Figure 107 also shows two ST-28 channels on the center line
forward of "F" with 1/8 inch gap for seatbelt brackets.
If you look in the Seat Assembly chapter 25 dated 7/27/94 fig.12 on page
25-8 it only shows a single ST-31 channel.
So I am guessing the change was on 1/11/95 to the "double up channel."
I would go with the double ST-31 for strength and also due to the width of
the seat rails.

I do not know why this change was made but...

119R was done with the web of the channel under the outer edge of the
seat rail which seemed to be what the manual called for. I doubled the
channels to make a kind of a hollow square section so that there is a
web under both edges of each seat rail. I did this to eliminate the
tendency for the seat rail to twist which might cause irregular wear and
make the locking pins difficult to engage.

Since the new manual makes an H section (an H rotated 90 degrees) out of
the doubled channel I was wondering if that was done for a similar
reason.
Now the center of the H web is centered under the seat rail which would
also reduce the twisting tendency as weight is added to the seat. Just a
guess...

Hi Jim,

MAM has a new CD manual ($25) with lots of extra photos of completed plane
controls, fairings, engine installations and more, as well as any changes in
the manual (like firewall beef ups) that might have come since you bought. I
found it very valuable and worth the expense. I have incorporated most of the
newer stuff that does not require major disassemble.

Hi Ken

I did not have the new manual info when I did this section. I did however,
put 2 of these 2" channels back to back making an I section under the seal
rails to eliminate any local sagging where all the down loads are going to
take place during the 'less than optimum landings etc. My seat rail areas
are very stiff & their is no binding taking place.

I did a drawing up because I did not like the original spacing. The 2"
channels did not line up at all with the seat rails & I believe that this is
less than optimum.
