rudder cable layout

The "biggest" task left here is the rudder cable. (Yes, that's good!)
There's quite a bit about rudder cable layout in the archives, of course.
Roger Hoffman and others have written about it. Using exterior photos of
several other Rebels, I can get a good idea of fuse hole locations that have
worked. However, what seems to me to be missing from the available info is a
combination of the exterior picture of the hole location, along with a
closeup detail photo of the pulley mount location inside the fuse -- the
next point where the cable has to go, of course. The manual (Ch.20) has very
little about the hole and nothing about the pulley location. I have seen one
or two photos of the inside pulley, but they're too far away to see much,
and I haven't remembered to take better ones when I've had the opportunity.

It would be nice to have both an exterior photo of the hole location, paired
up with a closeup detail photo of the pulley mount, from a few planes with
layouts that have worked well. Then I could just count rivets, etc., to
begin to locate the hole, while also knowing where the pulley should be on
the inside for that particular hole location. It's the combination that
matters, right? As error prone (and lazy) as I am, it sure would be nice to
make this as easy as possible! Thanks in advance for any help on that.

Update: I got a superb series of photos, with dimensions marked on them,
from Charlie Eubanks. The main misconception I had was that a pulley was
necessary/advisable shortly after the cable entered the fuse. Not so. I've
encouraged Charlie to load these up to the Files archive. [Charlie: If you
don't, I'm putting them on YouTube! :-)] Great stuff. There's no reason
this should be quite the mystery it's been -- at least to me -- and thanks
to Charlie, the fog here is evaporating at a rapid rate.

Great to have this list, and the fine people who make it what it is. Thanks
all.

With Charlie Eubanks' permission, I've just uploaded 9 of his photos related
to his cable installation to the Rebel files, 211 R-Control Systems section,
which include measurements for the rudder cable hole location, a die block
to make a cover for the hole, pulley installation, cable runs, etc. Very
helpful.

Thanks, Charlie.

UPDATE: I finally drilled a hole and started filing the left rudder cable
hole today, and it's coming along. The filing is slow going, of course, what
with crawling inside to check things every 1/32" or so (!) but the way
things go here, that's as it should be. I am taking lots of pictures and
will write up the operation at some point, but did want to report that I
started at the center point of Charlie's location measurements, and it's
working out great. Film at 11. Or 12, or 1. :)
