I went this route once Si, and when applying for my Special Airworthiness
certificate, I just checked the box for "Assorted Parts and Pieces"... and
called it a Davis Special. No hassle at all, even got my repairman's
certificate.

To all you builders and prospective builders out there in the U.S. who
have purchased second or third hand Murphy Kits. As Jeff Micheal has
posted earlier make sure you know what should be in the Kit. But you need
to be extremely careful of the paper trail also the FAA will require you
to have a FAA form 8050-2 paper trail from MAM to you through all the
owners hand written Bills of Sale as proof of conveyance are not
recognized by the FAA. I know been there done that twice. So if your
building start your paper trail building now.

If you can't build the Form 8080-2 trail you may want to go the way of
Affidavit of Ownership and not call it a Murphy whatever but a Your name
Special. If you have questions you can e-mail me siks@ticon.net or my
phone # is 608-289-6936 good luck and happy building because they are
wonderful Aircraft.

Si

That's the point I wanted to make Mike if you can't create the paper trail
don't send it in with a Murphy name on it
