I fly an AA1with an 0235c2c around Lake Erie with no oil coller. Have never
had a problem for twenty one years. It is very tightly cowled and I once
replaced the baffling tape.

cheers

with a light wt starter /alternator, no vac or fuel pump, wood prop, and
any
thing else I can do to keep it light. My question is, should I plan on
installing an oil cooler? If so, firewall or engine mounted? I live in the

Thanks for your reply on the fuel pump. I am afraid I am not familiar with
your AA1 and you have tweaked my curiosity. I would like to hear more about
your aircraft.

Me too, Bill!

Are you able to provide some real-world performance numbers with the O-

Any O-235 rear case that I've seen doesn't offer oil cooler fittings. If you
find you need to run a cooler you'll most likely need an adapter plate that
goes under the screen housing. This adapter has in and out for the cooler
lines.

That said.. my O-235-C x 100 HP could have used a cooler when I ran it the
first few years on my Rebel. Oil was always around 235F. I was sure I had no
rust issues going on in my motor....

An AA! was made by the Amercian aircraft Co. in Cuyahoga county Airport Ohio
by Beddie 1968-1969.
It is the Yankee. The AA5 is the Tiger it is 180hp. The company was sold to
Grummen who changed the laminer flow wing designated AA1A; AA1B AA1C the
plane is very responsive and fun to fly. The Web address shows one with my
paint' for sale and it looks cheep.

Now I understand, I just didn't recognize the aircraft by that designation.
Flew a lot of small aircraft but never flew a Yankee. Glad to hear you oil
temps were not a problem. My Rebel not as fast so I hope I can supply enough
air to keep the temps under the red line.
Thanks for the reply.

My Rebel with a 0-235 has a oil cooler and I removed the rear oil screen and
installed a engine mounted oil filter, but I will have to look to see how
the oil cooler is hooked up.

I'm begining the research stage of buying a rebel kit and I am wondering a few things about insurance and how well they really fly. I figure that it must fly pretty well, but would love to find out first hand. If there are any builders and owners near chilliwack BC Canada who want to let somebody pay for some fuel in exchange for a ride let me know.

sincerely
