[rebel-builders] Worktable height

It's been a long time since I built my Rebel, but one thing I still remember
very well when working on the fuselage, is don't be too hasty in riveting
things together. You will need to do a lot of work back there with the floor
channels and inside wraps, and sure helps if you can get at it without
having to crawl inside. Of course, you will need a lot of clecos.

I am halfway through completing the tailcone and am finding I need a
stepstool to reach into the cone to drill and rivet. My table is currently
waist height. I am considering lowering the table to a more workable height
but don't want to do it too soon. I'm sure many of you have gone there done
that, so I await your advice. Is there an optimum height for working on the
fuselage? At what point in the build process should I drop the table?

Walter is right. In fact, for the whole plane don't be in a hurry to rivet
things. That has biten me in the butt several times (I'm stubborn). I
riveted the floor skin in place, I just had to see it done, and I sure
would have liked to have put some things there, like the battery cables
from a tailcone battery that will now be on the floor somehow! Now If
memory serves, I think I did rivet one side or maybe the bottom skin so I
could lay it flat, put some thin plywood on the bulkheads and get in there.
1/4" plywood worked pretty good; I never folded a bulkhead over. Also, put
the wraps on so that you can reach through and drill each one before you
put the next one on.

As for cutting the table, I didn't do it. I'm only 5'5" and it wasn't a
big deal for me. Craig #207 Flying on Wednesday!

No issues for me on my 31" high table.... other than it's too low to stand
beside and debur stuff on. Gets hard on the back if you don't pull up a
chair to sit on. My 37" high table on the other hand is perfect for standing
up while deburing.

As for step stool being needed... buy an 8' long 2 x 12 and put it on two
cement blocks beside the table. Makes life a lot easier when you're at a
stage that requires that extra boost!
